A media generated QB controversy
This whole Edwards or Losman thing, is being way overblown. The local media types, saw the opportunity and they all ran with it. You can see them in their meetings, jumping up and down, YAY!!!!!! QB CONTROVERSY!!!!!!!!!
It's the easiest thing to talk about, instead of trying to break down, why the defense is getting better, easy Keith Ellison is healthy and they play horrible teams, or why can't Lynch get the longer runs. They stick with this story and run it down our throats.
So is there really a controversy?
No
Trent Edwards is their guy, we all know it, JP Losman knows it, someone should clue in the media to this fact.
JP Losman got hurt, gave them the opportunity to give Edwards some time. Now Edwards is hurt, so Losman can show off what he can do, or what he can't do. Thus fueling this debate for several more weeks. So I'm a big fan of statistics. They don't lie, so who should the Bills go with?
Trent Edwards 121 Att 80 Comp 66.1% 790 Yards 1TD 5 Int 9 Sacks 69.9 rating
JP Losman 52 Att 33 Comp 63.5% 368 Yards 1 TD 1Int 7 Sacks 82.9 rating
Yuck, on either guy.
Edwards has a higher Completion %, but barely, but more interceptions, and a lower rating
Losman has less picks, but more fumbles. 1 lost to Edwards 0. But for a mobile guy. Has a .13 Sacks/Attempts ratio to Edwards .07, so Losman gets sacked more often then Edwards does. And sacks are drive killing plays. With even amount of attempts Losman would have 16 sacks to Edwards 9.
With a offense that doesn't know what its doing. And a QB that basically just says fuck it I'm going deep. They need the QB who can run the offense. Trent Edwards.
So sack Losman
A new love for Gus Johnson
Like in a Bills/Patriots game several years ago. The return of Antwoine Smith to Buffalo after being cut, to bring in the hot new back Travis Henry, mmm sounds like a familiar scenario. After putting in the winning TD, Gus Johnson screams "TAKE THAT BUFFALO" I sat there mouth agape, shocked that an announcer would do that. It took me years to accept Gus Johnson for what he is, trying to put excitement into a situation. Now I love the man. Especially when hes doing his thing for my team. Like last weeks Bills/Jets game.
All is forgiven Gus.
TAKE THAT JETS!!!!

10 game review
10 game review
After 10 games the Sabres, are stuck right at .500, 5-5, some might call this a disappointment, or expected with all the turnover. Me, personally, I don't have a exact opinion on the first 10 games. They look bad, they look good, they look good and bad in the same game. This team doesn't know who they are yet. But we can look at some stats and get a gauge at whats going on so far.
Top 5 in Points.
- Brian Campbell 1G 10A 11PTS
- Tim Connolly 1G 10A 11PTS
- Jason Pominville 5G 5A 10PTS
- Derek Roy 5G 4A 9PTS
- Thomas Vanek 3G 5A 8PTS
Any real surprises, besides Campbell being first? Not really.
The one stat that looking at is really telling about this team.
Shots on Goal.
The most shots on goal. Jochen Hecht with 32.
Captain putting the puck on the net
Best Shooting Percentage Daniel Paille at 50%!
4 shots 2 goals. SHOOT THE PUCK DANNY!
Terrible Shooting Percentage Tim Connolly at 3.7%.
Obviously Timmy needs to pick better shots.
Surprises
Honestly, there aren't any surprises. No player is like oh boy look at him! Brian Campbell has a lot of points, but he was an All Star last year. Unfortunately the disappointments will be more numerous.
Disappointments.
Ryan Miller
Hate to put the guy here, but really he carried the team through the playoffs, played fantastic and I expected him to play lights out. At times he does, but like the rest of the team, just plays lazy at time.
3.11 GAA .896SV% Aren't all-star numbers, and he needs to improve for this team to go anywhere this year.
Drew Stafford
Just not at the level we expect from him. Maybe the sophomore slump or whatever.
Lydman/Tallinder
This supposed shutdown pair, has been anything but this year. In fact Hank has been downright terrible at times. Already at a -5 combined. Plus, they don't get helped out by their 3 forward counterparts. Usually the RAV line.
Next Ten Game Outlook
With 9 of out 10 games against Northeast Division Opponents. Its critical the Sabres start to pick it up. There seems to be a flow coming up, and none of this couple games long layoff nonsense anymore.
Prediction 6-2-1
