Well we all know the theme of this one, the murder of Sean Taylor. A senseless tragedy that really can either destroy a whole season, since players might not have it in them anymore, or rally a team to play for a fallen teammate. The Bills will come out to win, though they are banged up. The question lies on the Redskins and their mindset. Honestly this game is tough to predict because of this incident. After the Kevin Everett injury you could see the team get down, but he was still around and getting better. Sean Taylor is never coming back, never going to give a inspirational speech, never saying lets go boys. He's gone, forever, and that is one of the hardest concepts to grasp, that someone is gone forever. The game is almost secondary to both teams this week. But it has to be played.
What is up with the Redskins?
They are sitting at 5-6 just like the Bills, playing inconsistent football, with a inexperienced QB. Though I feel Jason Campbell will get better. His stats aren't horrible 2384 Yards passing, 12 tds and 10 ints. With a completion percentage of 60 and a QB rating of 79.1. All serviceable numbers. But the engine of this offense is Clinton Portis, who is playing decent, not stellar. With 870 yards rushing and 6 tds. The big offensive weapon in the passing game isn't Santana Moss, who is dangerous, its Chris Cooley, who is putting up one good year. 495 yards receiving and 7 tds. More then half of Jason Campbells TD passes are to Cooley.
The defense is led by old pal London Fletcher Baker. Who took some big money to head to DC. But the loss of Sean Taylor is going to hurt this defense. The corners are solid with Springs and Smoot. Though their leading INT man was Taylor with 5. So their aren't ball hawking corners in this defensive system led by another old Bills pal, Gregg Williams. The defense is pretty good and doesn't give up a lot of yards. Andre Carter is leading the team with 8 sacks. One player to look out for is Rocky McIntosh a very good young linebacker. He should be all over the field making plays on Sunday.
Team Stat Comparison
The Redskins are 9th on defense giving up 21.8 points per game and 310.7 yards per game. While the Bills defense 31st since giving up a shit load of points the past few weeks. With 23.5 points per game and 378.5 yards per game. Doesn't look like that much difference, but it is.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Redskins are 13th with scoring 19.4 points per game and generating 334.1 yards per game. The Bills on the other hand are also 31st in offense with 15.2 points per game and racking up 267.4 yards per game.
Key Injuries
For the Bills its the RB's Lynch and Thomas are pretty much out leaving Action Freddie Jackson in to start with Dwayne Wright backing him up. Not what you would want, but its what they have to deal with on Sunday. Jeremetrius Butler is out, Chris Kelsay is out, Coy Wire is out and Larry Tripplett will play. And JP Losman is out with a case of the Sucking.
On the Redskin side. Larry Sellers and James Thrash are out. Randy Thomas and Antwann Randle El are both questionable. Other then those, the Skins are pretty healthy.
What the Bills have to do to win
Easy, don't turn the ball over, control the ball and put it in the endzone. Its that easy. One quick strike and the Redskins might just pack it in, with all they have been dealing with this week. The Bills have to also stop Clinton Portis, make Campbell beat you.
Something interesting taken from Chris Brown's tipsheet
Roscoe Parrish (342) needs 43 punt return yards to set an all-time franchise single season record for punt return yards in a season (Donnie Walker 384, 1974).
Well with this defense who knows when he'll get a punt to return. Someone get Roscoe the chance.
Outlook
Well I think the Sean Taylor thing, is going to be a inspiring thing for the Redskins and they are gonna come out strong and emotional. The Bills have been punched in the mouth the last two weeks and if the Skins do some damage early, it could be all over for the boys in Red, White and Blue. I'll take the Skins to win, 28-17.
