Well this is great news coming out today from the AP, that Kevin Everett is walking. No one thought we would be saying that months from the injury, even years after that injury. But due to quick treatment and proper care, Kevin will able to live a somewhat normal life. He is done playing football, but most other options are open to him.
I would love to see Kevin walk out for the last home game against the Giants for the coin flip with the Captains. It would be the perfect way to end the home season this year. From the terrible loss against Denver and the fear that a player would never walk again, maybe die because of an injury. If it happened it might be the loudest ovation that stadium has heard in a while."He doesn't have a full natural stride but, yeah, he's walking," a person close to the family told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of Everett's status.
The person said Everett has been walking under his own power since his release from Memorial Hermann/TIRR three weeks ago and is now an outpatient there. The person added Everett is picked up at his Houston-area home by car to attend daily rehab sessions and is able to walk to and from the facility.
"He's not driving or anything like that, but he is walking. He's not running. He is walking," the person said.
Keep on getting better Kevin, we are all behind you.
