The Sabres head into the Shark Tank tonight to salvage a disaster of a road trip. Two winnable games they totally weren't even close to winning. And getting blasted by the Kings is a sign of trouble. Now they have to play one of the better teams in the league. A team full of weapons. If they rolled into San Jose like they did against LA, they might have lost 12 -2. GCFB won't be watching since I'll be with the girlfriend who doesn't have cable. So no go on this one, and I'm tired I might be asleep by 11pm.
Whats up with the Sharks
Well the Sharks are currently 2nd in the West and leading the Pacific Divison, standing at 15-8-4. They are pretty hot winning 4 in a row and 7-1-2 in their last 10 games. They are actually much better away from home, with a road record of 11-3-2 and 4-5-2 at home. Which is an odd record. So maybe the Sabres have a better shot then I think. They aren't offensive as you would think with only scoring 70 goals on the year, but also have only given up 58. They are a tight checking team and will play you tough.
Who does what on the Sharks
The answer to this question is easy, its Joe Thornton's team, he almost has 3 times as many points as anyone on the team. His stats this year are 12 goals, 23 assists for 35 points and is also a +12 on the year. Really I don't know how someone racks up all those points and not have is line mates join in on the fun. Milan Michalek and Jeremy Roenick?! are tied for second with 14 points on the year. And Jonathan Cheechoo is having a very disappointing start on the year with only 9 points in 27 games. Someone get this man near Joe Thornton stat! Impressive stat is Doug Murray who I'm not quite sure who he is, but he is a +17 on the year. A big young defensiveman and the sharks are quietly deep at defense in my opinion. Old friends Mike Grier and Curtis Brown also play on the Sharks. Mike Grier having a solid year and Curtis Brown who has only played in 10 games this year.
Other Tidbits
Good luck for the Sabres, looks like Evgeni Nabokov (who has played in EVERY GAME THIS YEAR!) has the night off. Evgeni has a 1.94 GAA and a .919 sv%. Well the Kings rolled out Jon Quick last time and the Sabres couldn't do shit. So lets see how Dimitri Patzold will do against the Sabres. Wait they have 2 goaltenders from Kazakhstan? Whats the odds on that? Lets just say that is, very niiiiiice. Come on it was an easy Borat reference.
Well should be an interesting game to see how the Sabres come out after taking a beating and respond to one of the better teams in the league. Well anyway, who knows.
