Time to look back (women)

Well the women were coming in, still suffering the NCAA tournament hangover that effects a lot of mid majors. They got there, so why can't they go back? Well its a young team sprinkled with a few vets, but it was the young ladies who were going to carry this team. And that is what happened. They played a few big programs, to test them themselves, but didn't do that great in the MAAC (7-11), which put them in the hole in the tournament. Almost had Marist in Albany, but couldn't complete the upset. Next year however will be a different story.

Team

Overall Record 13-18, 3-13 on the road.
Outscored 2031 to 1869 on the season
Points per game: Canisius 60.3 Opponents 65.5
Rebounds per game: Canisius 36.5 Opponents 40.9

Individual leaders

Leading Scorer Amanda Cavo at 13 points per game
Leading rebounder Laura Buetow with 212 rebounds
Best Shooter (based on total %) Amanda Cavo
Best in the Paint Laura Buetow 212 rebounds and 50 blocks.

Awards

MVP: Tie Amanda Cavo and Brittane Russell, both ladies deserve it.

Best presence inside. Laura Buetow. Great numbers and every team had to deal with her. You need a good gatekeeper, she will be missed next year.

Rookie of the year: Micayla Drysdale, pulling down 8.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg and averaging 30 minutes on the year. Thats pretty damn good for a freshman.

Outlook

They have several seniors graduating, but only Buetow is the only person in the top 8 scorers that was a senior. So next year they have a lot of their talent coming back, with a whole year of experience. Plus I'm sure a talented group of incoming freshman the Lady Griffs, should be a serious threat in the MAAC next year. I look forward to a 3 or 4 seed and a championship game appearance next year. In Terry Zeh I trust.
